WHAT FIRST DREW YOU TO PHOTOGRAPHY?
Oddly enough, dandelions. In the summer of my seventh grade year I worked and saved for my first camera. When I got it I decided to spend hours outside lying on the ground photographing dandelions. They inspired me! I quickly moved on, from taking photos and weeds (I’m laughing at me, too, don’t worry!) and started to create portraits of my friends and family. I soon realized how much I love working with people and capturing their personalities and stories. I photographed my first wedding, solo, at sixteen. After practicing and growing I found that I could have a creative, fulfilling job that I love.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER?
I’m just in it for the cake, obviously. Okay, but really…I absolutely love photographing weddings. Photographing the bride and groom portraits is where I creatively come alive. I love celebrations. I love people. I love that no two weddings are the same and that every couple expresses their love so differently. I love that I get to capture one of the most memorable days in a couple’s life. I love cake. Wait, did I already say that? I love the creative challenges that come with each wedding. I love to have a lot of fun and yes, I will try to make you laugh and I hope that I succeed.
CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE:
I’ve been photographing weddings for five years and I’m not even close to being sick of it. I’ve photographed in South Africa, Canada, Hawaii, Oregon, California, North Dakota, New York, Tennessee, Texas, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania. But now, I am based in Kona, Hawaii but still travel for destination weddings and elopements. I am self-taught. I have Youtube to thank for my growth, as well as a few friends and lots of practice.
WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL & WHY?
Is a cheeseburger considered a spirit animal? If so, then cheeseburger BECAUSE they have a solid base, that’s the part that doesn’t change, but depending on the mood / craving, you can add whatever you’d like to it. Yes, I’m talking bacon, avocado, Doritos, peanut butter. I’m gonna add whatever I want to my burger, because I can. Also, if you haven’t put peanut butter on your burger, you are missing out.
WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU WANT TO SAY ABOUT YOURSELF TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A PHOTOGRAPHER THROUGH THE REMNANT COLLECTIVE?
On a personal note, I love the following things: Jesus, the ocean, The Office (on repeat while I edit), burgers of all kinds (I don’t discriminate), Chipotle, mountains, South Africa, dad jokes, traveling, meeting new people, my job, and doing dishes. Listen up, we are going to have a really good time (I promise) while we capture images for you to pass down to generations. I want to create clean, timeless, beautiful and JOYFUL images that show who you are. Let’s do this.
